The
valve cover conceals the rocker arms and valve heads.
It
is made from stamped steel and is bolted to the top of the head. On
a V8 engine there are two of them. The left one has a cap for adding
oil. The right one has an opening for a breather tube that connects
to the air cleaner. A cork valve cover gasket prevents the oil that
lubricates the top of the valves from leaking out.
