Piston:

The piston is cast steel, with grooves and holes machined in the lower groove.

Three grooves accommodate the rings. The top and second rings are compression rings; the third groove holds an expander ring in the middle of two oil control rings. The holes allow oil to pass through. Piston pin bosses are machined into the piston to accommodate connection to the connecting rod.
